From motivational speakers, to events catered to the ladies, to Ethiopia’s celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, check out some of the this weekend’s events!

FRIDAY, Mar. 16

Qwanqwa Dance Lab: Dream & Young | 8pm – 9pm
Alliance Éthio-française d’Addis-Abeba
“Dream & Young” will present the work of different dancers including a duet from Enquselassie and Betelhem Leul, a short video projection, a solo piece from reknown Dawit Seto, as well as a hip-hop piece from “Late Afro.” For more information visit, their Facebook event page.

African Film Week | 6pm
Goethe-Institute (Sidist Kilo)
Entrance: FREE
Enjoy the final days of Goethe’s African Film Week, which featured a selection of five feature films from Ethiopia, Namibia, Uganda, Rwanda and Algeria reflecting the diversity of African cinema. All films have gained national and/or international recognition through awards and festival invitations in the last year, and represent excellent film making from their respective countries. Friday’s film will be Rwanda’s “Dreamstates,” (2016). Visit their page to learn more.

SATURDAY, Mar. 17

Calling all ladies! This weekend, grab your girlfriends and head to Venus Festival, a women’s-only event that brings several women-owned businesses together to provide a day of pampering and shopping opportunities. African Film Week | 6pm

Wakanda Night! | 9pm – 4am 
Le Diamant Restaurant (4th Floor, National Tower, between Ethiopian Hotel and Stadium)
In celebration of the recent film, Blank Panther, celebrate African pride at this unique event!  Dance, drink, and revel in all Wakanda glory to the music of the Black Panther’s soundtrack, including hip-hop, African tribal house, Afrobeat, reggaeton, dancehall and much more.
