4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Hawasa Ethiopia, Thousands Outside Their Homes



Hawassa City and its environs as far as 17km from the city have been hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 RS around  21 hours local time today 24 January 2016.

The depth of the quake was said to be 10Km.

The information has been confirmed by GeoForschungsZentrum  GEOFON) Potsdam, Germany.

Netizens in the area are indicating that the majority of the city’s residents, students of universities and those living in condominiums have left their apartments are now crowding the streets.

There are no reports of casualties so far.
